Why Rhinos
Are Important

Rhinos are fast disappearing from the wild. Without urgent, international action they could be gone within a generation.

The two African rhino species – black rhino and white rhino – have both increased in numbers in recent years thanks to successful conservation efforts, especially in South Africa. Indeed, the white rhino has been brought back from the brink of extinction.

Rhino horn is just keratin

It’s the same stuff our hair and nails are made of – it has no magical or healing properties. Poaching steals from all of us and when the rhinos are gone, that’s it! There’s no turning back. Extinction cannot be our legacy.

To save the rhinos, we need to save their habitat.

Rhinos are territorial animals and need adequate space to roam and feed. A dominant bull can claim an area of up to 44 - 50km².

Will we be great?

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Rhinos are critically endangered because of the illegal trade in their horns. To save them, it is not enough to support anti-poaching efforts on the ground. We must also fight corruption, a tough challenge for there is corruption everywhere. We must all get involved in saving the rhino. How? Make a donation, spread awareness, write letters. Just do something and do it now before it is too late."
